National Parks

Most national parks will allow scattering of ashes with permits and permissions. Scatterings must be on land only, away from cultural features, and in an area that will not impact other visitors.

State Parks

While Washington State parks do not permit rubbish to be left behind, including fire ashes, it does make an exception for scattering human crematory ashes. Approval is needed.

Local & Private

Local public municipalities sometime agree to allow scatterings on community properties. For private land, as long as the owner agrees, there are no other limitations or restrictions.
